Advantages of Lazada’s birth on Filipino soil

The Philippines is climbing its way to the top of the E-commerce pyramid with its multiple number of online ventures helping out not just the consumers who benefit from it but the sellers as well. Employment and job opportunities are by far one of the best things about the constant launch of sites online. As the number of online venture builder increase, more Filipinos are given employment. As we all know, next to Nursing, courses related to computer systems are popping out everywhere giving our country a good number of computer enthusiasts. And with technology being the core source of information and funds of many, online shopping just seems fitting to make this course a choice more Pinoys can benefit from.

Lazada Philippines is currently the titleholder of the Golden Globe Annual Awards as Best Online Shopping Mall for this year. An honor only a few websites out of a million working today can brag about. This honor gives Lazada more bragging rights because it has only been up and running for a little over one year. Some say Lazada reminds them of Amazon and it is literally the localized version. But Lazada isn’t an amateur website just trying to portray itself as another already popular online store. A very successful online builder company that has launched multiple online stores worldwide powers Lazada. Rocket Internet spearheaded the launch of Zalora and Office Fab as well, affiliates of Lazada. As a veteran of the said field, Lazada was born to be a success even in a country as less open-minded as the Philippines. The number of transactions made each day and the internet traffic it gains is astounding considering how not a lot of Filipinos support this method of shopping as it more or less puts a lot of buyers’ investments at risk. After all, none of the payments assure to be given its rightful compensation given such minimum physical contact. But despite this stereotype, a lot of Filipinos still take risks and in the process have learned the ropes of buying online. And these sides of Filipinos are helping e-commerce websites gain revenue.

Pinoys are not stupid. They know how things work after only a few numbers of exposures. They adapt very well in general which gives online shopping a better edge because the likelihood of it being adapted to the Filipino culture or the local shopping system is higher. Local E-commerce is not getting the amount of acknowledgement it should be getting with the number of sales it makes every day. Just imagine how much impact Lazada can create in the years to come after huge companies invested billions of money on them like J.P. Morgan did in early this year. More products from retailers and sellers will be given exposure heightening their sales with so little physical effort from them. The possibilities are endless and I won’t be surprised if by the end of this year, the number of items Lazada holds that now currently counts for about more than 20,000 products reach to a hundred thousand.
