Spend Your Weekend with Camping

I saw great deals at Lazada.com.ph of tents, bags and more on awesomely discounted prices. I just shared this because camping is one great way to spend a holiday or a whole weekend free from the city buzz and noise. I’ve gone to retreats and camps when I was young and it was always refreshing, staying close to nature never failed to bring new perspective and a rejuvenating experience both inside and out.

There are absolutely great benefits of camping for many and different aspects, one is camaraderie, may it be with family or friends team building naturally occurs during camps through games, activities necessary for your stay.

Health comes second, going on nature trips means oxygen and more oxygen means refreshing your body. Plus, you get an unconscious participation to exercising and working out through hikes and much active movement than just walking around the house.

Third is bagged for your pocket’s benefit. Camping is very cost-effective. Those who plans to go on camping need only to spend on needed supplies like food, tent, water, and sleeping bag. No over-indulgence to purchase some other stuff.

Lastly, you may develop love and appreciation for nature. It might be inconvenient because of bugs and loads of insects crawling around the campground but taking closer to nature’s beauty will simply captivate you.

So, do you guys have more to add?

Some Strange Sports & Monopoly Philippines

While surfing the net for some interesting stuff to take myself out of boredom zone I found this interesting sites and articles that features activities considered as sports. I also found this Monopoly board game Philippines version which I never thought board-game people will attempt to do. Saw it here. My little sister bought a Monopoly board-game with the original “currency” which is pounds but with the Philippines version I think she’ll love the game even more. Anyway, here’s the my top 3 interestingly strange “sports”:

Weirdest Sport of all: Beard and Moustache Competition

Men have set another standard to measure their manliness, through growing their facial hairs highly-styled! The first Championship took place in Höfen-Enz, Germany, in 1990.

There are 3 brackets of facial hair: Moustache, Partial Beard and Full Beard. Each bracket is broken into individual categories. There are usually 17 categories but there were 18 different categories for the 2009 championships. Amazing creativity!

Weirder Sport: Toe Wrestling
Toe wrestling sees opponents try to force each other’s feet down in a best-of-three "toe-down", in a similar format to arm wrestling. Top players include Tom "100m" Martin, Paul "Tomatominator" Beech and Alan "fiesty" Nash, who is the current world champion.

It never crossed my mind that one can use toes to wrestle another toe. That’s ouch and very odd.

Weird Sport: Cheese Rolling

Once again, the Brits have not failed to surprise me with their awesomeness! This is one activity we can call sports, Cheese Rolling! It is an annual event held somewhere in Gloucester.

From the top of the hill a round of Double Gloucester cheese is rolled, and competitors race down the hill after it. The first person over the finish line at the bottom of the hill wins the cheese.

“Weird” Sports

When I hear the word “sports” I instantly think about activeness and movement, those that require more of the body’s movement, strength and momentum than logic and brainwork. However, its concept is changed at present. List of sports around the world does not only include body activities but much considering brain’s participation and others are just weird.

Some of which included on the list are:
1. Beard & Moustache Championships — the best facial hair
2. Gurning Sport — pull a face and the ugliest wins.
3. Kissing Competitions —no need for explanation. The name’s a give-away.
4. Hairy Back Competitions – who has the most hair on the back wins.
5. Paper-Scissors-Rock – whoever invented this game must be included to the World Guinness Book of Records. Never imagined it would be considered as a sport.

Gener’s Aftermath

Not long after typhoon Gener left our country a southwest monsoon caused by a typhoon directed towards China that flooded majority of the metropolitan area and some provinces last Monday to Thursday this week. On that Monday night, as I was on my way home from work, I thought all my belongings were secured in my bag. Unfortunately, I was caught by surprise that my phone got drenched with rain. It got badly messed up and left me with nothing to use.

For the past few weeks now, I’ve been hearing about Lazada.com.ph from Party Pilipinas. True enough, the site offers a lot of awesome stuff with great deals, a lot of discounts on selected items like my pick: Samsung Pocket. It’s what I can afford for now given the circumstances, plus, I have friends who use it and testify positively of it.

By the way, the online shopping mall has this campaign called Lazada Cares posted on their site that greatly benefits the affected families and people all over Luzon. The campaign encourages people to donate to victims through buying either a bundle or any item which will go to those in need with the help of Philippine Red Cross and GMA Kapuso Foundation. The campaign’s brilliant and indeed a great way to help people in need compared to giving out mostly used stuff.

Facts about Football

This video is one of the most hilarious commercial I have ever watched. You must watch it. Anyway, football kind of interests me, apart from all the other sports, football kind of stands out just for this moment –maybe because of the irregularly-shaped ball.

Anyway, here are facts about football, credits to thesportsinfoline.com:
  •        College football is one of the most popular sports in America. (I guess that’s obvious already through television shows and some movies.)
  •        Ohio State, the University of Michigan, the University of Tennessee, and Penn State all have football stadiums that hold over 100,000 fans, and they typically sell out.
  •        One of the least known facts on football is that modern fields are smaller than they were at the beginning of the game. They have shrunk from 120 yards to 100 yards.
  •         In 1906 colleges considered dropping the game because it had caused so many injuries and even some deaths.
  •         One of the most well-known college football facts is that most major players receive a scholarship for school for their athletic ability which started after World War II.
  •         College football facts relating to tournaments: There is no college football tournament like the NCAA basketball tournament. Teams play several bowl games throughout the year.

First Fun Blog

Howdy y’all!

This is my first online journal and I’m very much excited to publish my share of thoughts and experiences. Facebook is clearly not the suitable media for this kind of thing even if it has the “write a note” privilege.

Moving on, comedy, fun facts, adventurous escapades that involves sports and activities of all sorts I get my radar on are most of what I am hoping to publish here. But it will be all the more fun if I get some interaction with random stranger just to exchange thoughts and other more.
